For one night only, IxDA Oslo brings the story of General Magic to Vega Scene.

In collaboration with Vega Scene, we are screening an award winning documentary about a startup you’ve likely never heard of – but has influenced most of the technology you use today.

General Magic spun out of Apple in 1990 to create the next big thing. In 1994 they shipped the first handheld "personal communicator" – or smartphone.

The film combines archival footage with interviews with legendary members of the original Macintosh team, along with the creators of the iPod, iPhone, Android, and eBay.

This is the story of one of history’s most talented tech teams, who after a great failure, went on to change the lives of billions.
